Back To School, Back to School…

It’s that time again, the back to school and homework and projects time. I’m back in San Francisco, just in time for some nice warm weather, just as its cooling down back east. I’m also taking some pretty awesome classes this semester…

Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic: in which on the first day, the class stood in a circle and held hands and transfered energy through each other…our teacher has outright said we are going to do “weird” things, this should be interesting and definite something different.

Screen Printing: I am super excited for this, I’ve wanted to learn to screen print for a long time now and its a good cross over from digital media.

Illustrator, Photoshop and Indesign: Another class with a teacher I’ve had several times, again a class I’m excited for because I’ve never worked with Indesign.

Frameworks of Art, Design and Technology: This class is with my department chair, and I was really skeptical if I’d stay in this class, because its six hours long on Wednesday starting at 9am and I’m just not a 9am type of girl. But I went to the first class and I’m pretty pumped for it, it should be really interesting and delve into more abstract design ideas.

Math: I don’t know what to think of this class, the teacher is a riot, he says “math is not about numbers, and all that shit, its about all that other shit, and logic is just what you use to clean up after the parade.” Uh what? I don’t know, but apparently Pythagorus was a cult leader? Yeah. This will certainly be an experience…

So the land of school, as of the first week was good, I’m pretty excited to start making stuff again. Outside of school things are more or less typical…

I got another tattoo…a lighthouse.

And I got a haircut, I’ve been wearing my bangs forward like this now, I think its cute.

Goals for 2009

“Into The Unknown”, Photo by Swamibu

All the cool kids are doing it, so how could I resist? I think resolutions however are stupid, I’d rather just set some goals! So here are some goals I have for 2009.

1. Learn to use Flash and InDesign (and work super hard in my design classes so I gain more skills).

2. Take more photos.

3. Move into a house with my friends (which will be happening by June!!).

4. Learn 10 (or more!) new things to cook.

5. Learn to play the guitar (I am finally attempting again!) and practice the piano more (as I have been drastically slacking.).

6. Travel at least one new place.

7. Try one new artistic practice or medium that I normally never would out of thinking its weird, or that I am unable.

8. Read 20 (or more!) books. I used to read so much but this past year I haven’t as much and I regret that!

9. Continue to update this blog and my portfolios.

10. Maintain a 3.25 GPA!!!

Obviously as the year progresses more goals with come up, but this is the list for now!

New Work

The portfolio section has been updated to include several new design pieces from my design class in school, mostly they are projects/concepts for projects.

Greetings from the circus…

I’m sitting in my design class, with time to kill so I thought I’d check in with the blogging world to let you know that I am alive and well here in San Francisco…albeit a bit busy and strapped for time to really sit down and update. This class is a 9am class, and I’m not exactly a morning person so naturally the only thing to make the time go faster is not sourcing inspiration for my next project, but rather sticking Kate Hudsons face onto figs and the like.

I have a lot of posts to get up, I promise they are coming soon, expect a dorm room tour, and a post on the Muir Woods very soon! Also keep an eye out on the portfolio section, new work will be up soon! I promise I am doing stuff in college!
