A second year Design & Technology major at San Francisco Art Institute. I love to think up improbable projects, bake cookies, read stories, paint, photograph, design, and travel.
In this week of the weird an wonderful we are going on a magical journey through all that was strange in the recent past, including Garfield, and Ocean’s 11…with Muppets.
1. Garfield Minus Garfield, this site takes a look at the sad life of Jon when Garfield is taken out of the comic. Pretty amusing, in a weird, sad sort of way.
2. “Henson’s 11″, to weird and perfect, whoever made this had way to much time on their hands.
3. We already knew that Japan was a strange place, but take a look at this commercial for bananas…
4. Jack in the Box is notorious for its wacky commercials, especially its commercials that mock other fast food competitors commercials, this one is airing a lot lately and its making fun of the BK commercial about their new mini burgers…its pretty weird and funny.
Today (because I missed my yoga class) Drew and I took a rather long walk all the way down Market St. And went into a hotel thats down there with a pretty amazing view (and really cool elevators made of glass), these pictures aren’t the best, because obviously they were taken behind glass, but if you’re ever down market by the Embarcadero then I recommend going into one of the taller buildings and checking out the view.
So in about three weeks it will be the end of my freshman year, its pretty hectic right now with all my final projects and such. Plus I’ve started doing yoga! So I do that everyday and it wears me out. I’m pretty excited for this year to end, it went by super quick but it was a lot of work. Trust me when I say art school is quite hard. My schedule for next year is looking so good too! I’ve got two design classes, one of which I am very excited about. A crazy class about shamanism and witchcraft, screen-printing, and math…which will certainly be a challenge. Well, thats all for today, just wanted to post a brief update, now its time to go to the park! Yoga kicked my butt this morning and its time to go out and enjoy the 80 degree weather and sun!!
One night I opened the door to my room, it was about 3am and to my surprise, I found a mannequin sitting there facing the door. It actually scared me quite a bit. But everything is art! Ha! And so I painted it and used it as my installation project for collage.
The heart is made out of strawberries and raspberries. Acrylic paint.
Me, looking “enthused”. Both these pictures were taken by my TA, Korka.
In this week of the weird in wonderful, we will be exploring children’s TV, Jackson Pollock and more!
1. Its recently come to my attention that the show Dinosaurs that I watched as a child has an entire episode where the characters are clearly taking drugs and its pretty blatantly obvious! Now I can’t tell if this is more hilarious or disturbing, but you can see for yourselves…
2. If you ever wondered how Pollock did it…clearly spaghetti is the answer, learn how to paint like Pollock! See kids, anyone can make art! Hurrary!
3. This site is along the lines of LOLcat, except er…with babies, entitled “Why The F Did You Have A Kid“, once again another fine line between funny and just plain disturbed.
4. Why the heck is Bubbles from Trailer Park Boys playing with Rush??? Well I don’t know, quite weird! Though secretly I really like this song.
5. Manbabies..well I think this one probably speaks for itself.
I’ve been trying out some new techniques and tutorials and making some new work, heres a poster I am working on now…I am going to add some text and then maybe do some screen prints of it.
